Dear SCPMA-HR Member,

I’d like to thank you, our members, and my exceptional Board, for the pleasures I have had serving as your 2011-2012 president. This year has taught me many things about leadership and group dynamics, and how difficult it can be to keep numerous plates balanced and spinning without the help of truly dedicated Board members.

Deb Jansen put together a team that produced our very successful 2012 Annual Training Conference: Inform, Invigorate, Inspire. Marcella Marlow recruited our workshop programs: Workplace Violence: When is a Threat Really a Threat; Motivating Employees in a Down Economy, The Aftermath: Everything That Happens AFTER You Terminate an Employee; and What Can’t Be Measured, Can’t Be Improved; and she arraigned for us to use the historic San Gabriel Mission Playhouse as our venue!. Helen Lee brought us two Developing HR Competencies four-day workshops with over 50 participants. Terri Steele completed the bureaucratic obstacle course and finalized our official name change, and kept us on track with our meeting minutes and calendars. Ashley Stracke led a focus group and two board goal-setting retreats that will guide us for several years and managed our website and email blasts. Brigitte Charles, Bill Osness and Phyllis Lynes diligently reminded us of our history, philosophy, and rules. Jaymie Liu, Eddie Garcia, Melinda George, Ruth Perry, Terry Rubalcava, and Victoria “Tori” Black all had their fingers in so many pies and supported so many of our activities that without them we would not have been nearly as successful.

Thank you to my Board members, welcome to the new Board members, and thank you, again, to SCPMA-HR members for allowing to me to serve as your 2011-2012 president! My best wishes to your new president,Deb Jansen and her board!
